Statement

Does it have to be so black and white? Can’t we all feel a bit in between some days? And surely we do not need to be so gender specific all the time. In Sweden a new word has been adapted the last few years, a gender neutral personal pronoun. A mixture of ”han” (him) and ”hon” (her) = ”hen”.

Throughout my investigation and my playing around with the most common gender symbols I’ve realized that it’s not only our bodies that consists of the same building blocks, but also the symbols. In this piece you can change from ”him” to ”her” however you please. I for one would feel it being a more pleasant world if I didn’t have to fit into one specific gender role every day and minute.

Declaración

¿Tiene que ser todo o blanco o negro? ¿No podemos sentirnos un poco a la mitad algunas veces? Por supuesto que no tenemos que ser tan específicos siempre en cuanto a cuestiones de género se refiere. En Suecia se ha acuñado una palabra nueva en los últimos años, un pronombre personal neutro. Una mezcla de “han” (él) y “hon” (ella), dando como resultado “hen”.

A lo largo de mi investigación y mis pruebas con los símbolos de género más comunes, me he dado cuenta de que no solamente nuestros cuerpos están compuestos por las mismas partes, sino también los símbolos. En esta obra se puede cambiar de “él” a “ella” como mejor te parezca. Personalmente creo que viviría en un mundo más agradable si no tuviera que encajar en un género específico cada día y cada minuto.
